Yesterday, former Republican Senator and presidential nominee John McCain died at the age of 81. John McCain was known for being a decorated Vietnam veteran and a “maverick” Senator. As a former prisoner of war, he was an outspoken critic of torture. He had a good sense of humor when confronted by critics. He once blamed Karl Rove for the destruction of the Old Man on the Mountain, requesting the FBI to investigate. Despite his efforts, Karl Rove is still free.

Reflecting on his life in his recent book, John McCain wrote, “It’s been quite a ride.”
